Atrophy
Atrophy is the decrease in size and function of an organ or tissue due to disuse, disease, or injury. This condition can have significant implications for health, as it can lead to reduced strength and mobility in affected limbs, decreased metabolism, and difficulty with physical activities. Atrophy can be associated with age or specific forms of disease, such as cancer, diabetes, and multiple sclerosis. Treatment and prevention of atrophy can involve physical therapy, exercise, and medications. Additionally, medical research into the causes and effects of atrophy is ongoing in order to better understand how to prevent and treat this condition.
