Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is a rare type of cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. It affects the lining of the lungs, abdomen, and heart, causing painful symptoms and diminishing quality of life. The cancer is almost always fatal, with few patients surviving more than five years. Treatment options are limited, but some targeted therapies and immunotherapy may help prolong survival. Research into new treatments is ongoing, with promising advances in the field. Mesothelioma must be diagnosed early to increase survival, so if you have been exposed to asbestos, it is important to get regular checkups.
