Pelvic Lymphadenectomy
Pelvic lymphadenectomy is a surgical procedure used to remove lymph nodes within the pelvic area in order to diagnose or treat cancer. The lymph nodes in this area can be either a primary site of cancer or can be affected by cancer that has spread from other areas of the body. During this procedure, the surgeon will identify and take out any affected lymph nodes in the pelvis in order to determine if cancer is present, or to reduce the spread of the disease. It is an important part of staging certain types of cancer and has been shown to improve patient outcomes. It can also be used to identify cancer types that are more aggressive and need more aggressive treatment.
