Ribonucleases
Ribonucleases (RNases) are enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of ribonucleic acid (RNA) into smaller fragments. RNases are essential components of the cell and have been used in many fields of research, such as genetic engineering and protein synthesis. RNases are also used in medical applications, including the treatment of cancer and viral infections. RNases are involved in a variety of cellular activities, including gene expression and the regulation of metabolic pathways. By cleaving targeted RNA molecules, RNases can be used to alter gene expression and create novel genetic pathways. In addition to their potential medical use, RNases are also useful for environmental biocontrol, as they can degrade certain types of RNA and reduce their numbers.
