Mycology

Mycology is the scientific study of fungi, including their structure, interactions with other organisms, and physiological traits. The importance of mycology lies in its wide variety of roles that fungi play in the world. Fungi are a major source of food, can be used in medicine, and act as decomposers of organic matter. Mycology has also been used to develop new methods of growing food, creating chemicals, and altering the environment. Mycology has become increasingly important in recent years, as the role of fungi in the biosphere has become more widely understood. This has led to an increasing number of applications for mycology in industry, from bioremediation to the medical field.
