Animal Genomics
Animal genomics is the study of the genome of animals and its use in understanding the genetic basis of animal development, health, and behavior. It is a rapidly growing field due to the development of new technologies to map and study the many different types of animal genomes. Animal genomics has enabled us to better understand how animals and humans share common genetic pathways, and how subtle genetic differences can lead to diseases, behaviors, and other traits in animals. It has also enabled us to improve the welfare of animals through selective breeding and disease control, and to produce new varieties of animals with desired traits. Additionally, it has opened up the possibility of exploring new therapies and treatments for a variety of human and animal illnesses.
