Animal Immunology
Animal immunology is a branch of biology that studies the body's mechanisms of defense against disease-causing agents, such as bacteria, viruses, parasites and other foreign substances. Its main objectives are to understand the structure and function of the immune system, to identify its components, to explore its ability to recognize and eliminate foreign entities and to design strategies to manipulate its response. By doing so, it contributes to the development of technologies to control and prevent infectious diseases, to control inflammation and autoimmunity, to design disease diagnostic tests and to develop effective vaccines and therapies.
