Animal Respiration
Animal respiration is the process by which oxygen is taken in and used by the cells in the body of an animal to create energy, allowing life functions to continue. This process is vital for survival and is essential for the life of animals, as it allows them to extract energy from the food they consume. Respiration is used by animals to power various body processes, including movement, digestion and the functioning of vital organs. It is also involved in thermoregulation, or the ability of animals to maintain their body temperature. All animals, from the smallest invertebrates to the largest mammals, depend on respiration for life.
