Animal Taxonomy

Animal taxonomy is the system used for classifying animals according to their shared evolutionary characteristics. It is important for biological research, as it is the basis for organizing much of the biological knowledge that has been discovered. Animal taxonomy is used to provide a framework for the development of a wide variety of topics in biology such as conservation, behavior, ecology, biodiversity, and evolution. By using these taxonomic systems, biologists can organize and make sense of the vast array of biological data that is collected. Taxonomy is also important for providing the common language for scientific communication. By providing a common language for animal classification, researchers from different countries and language backgrounds can communicate with each other effectively.
