Animal Welfare
Animal welfare is an important concept that refers to the wellbeing of all animals. It covers a wide range of issues such as humane treatment, humane housing, humane handling, humane transportation, humane euthanasia, humane slaughter and humane scientific research. The aim of animal welfare is to ensure that all animals are treated with respect and have a good quality of life, free from suffering and distress. Animal welfare is an important issue for the scientific and ethical communities, as it has implications for animal health, behaviour and their general wellbeing. As such, it is a key component of animal husbandry and animal-based research. Animal welfare is also important for humans, as it helps to promote a better understanding of animals and contributes to a more meaningful relationship between humans and animals.
