Behavioral Ecology

Behavioral Ecology is a field of study that investigates how animals adapt their behaviour according to their environment in order to survive and reproduce. It is a subfield of evolutionary biology that uses an interdisciplinary perspective to understand how the life history, physiology and morphology of animals contribute to the behaviour of individuals in their natural environment. By exploring the different strategies of animals to acquire resources, compete and cooperate, behavioural ecology can explain why animals act in certain ways under particular circumstances. The field has high practical relevance, as its research can be used to better manage and conserve certain species and their habitats.
