Copulation

Copulation is the act of male and female organisms coming together for the purpose of fertilization. This is a key process in the animal kingdom, enabling species to reproduce and survive. It is widely studied in the fields of zoology, evolutionary biology, and sexual selection. During copulation, the male deposits reproductive cells, called sperm, into the female. These cells travel to the female's egg and fertilize it, making possible the conception of a new individual. Copulation can also be used in animal husbandry, as a way of propagating desirable traits in domestic animals.
