Myrmecology

Myrmecology is the scientific study of ants. Ants are a successful and abundant group of insects, and they can be found almost everywhere on Earth. Myrmecologists study ant behavior, ecology, and evolution. Studying ants can provide insights into the fundamental aspects of animal behavior, evolution, and social dynamics. Scientists can use the results of myrmecology to inform conservation efforts, pest management, and agriculture. Myrmecology can also provide broader insight into the importance of biodiversity and how different species interact in an ecosystem.
