Protozoology

Protozoology is the study of protozoa, single-celled organisms found in both aquatic and terrestrial environments. These organisms are important components of many ecosystems and play important roles in the food web and nutrient cycles. Protozoology is used to help control and monitor the spread of diseases, such as malaria and giardia, as well as to study the effects of environmental pollutants on aquatic life. Additionally, it is used for food safety monitoring, bioremediation and biotechnology. By understanding the characteristics and behavior of protozoa, we can be better equipped to protect our environment, our health, and the health of many other organisms.
