Slugs
Slugs are gastropod mollusks that range in size from a few millimeters to nearly a foot in length. They can be found in a variety of habitats, from forests to gardens to marine environments. Slugs are important components of terrestrial and marine ecosystems, as they are important sources of food for birds, other animals and humans. They are also important decomposers, helping to break down organic material and recycle nutrients. In addition, slugs can be used in research and to control pest populations in agricultural areas. Slugs are also a common source of scientific study, offering insight into topics ranging from evolution to locomotion.
