Biography
Dr. Anna Aiello, PhD, is a Researcher under Law 240/10, type B, SSD MED/04 General Pathology, S.C. 06/A2, and Assistant Professor of General Pathology at the University of Palermo, Palermo, Sicily, Italy. She received her education from the University of Palermo and the University of Palermo. Her research focuses on inflammaging, immunosenescence, nutrigerontology, and bioactive compounds, with particular emphasis on the biological mechanisms underlying ageing and longevity. Dr. Aiello has authored over 35 indexed publications, including her most-cited work, "The Role of Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMP-2 and MMP-9) in Ageing and Longevity: Focus on Sicilian Long-Living Individuals (LLIs)" (2020), which has been cited 60 times. Her scholarship contributes to understanding the pathological and molecular processes associated with healthy ageing in long-lived populations.
