Genital Warts
Genital warts are fleshy growths in the genital area that are caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). They are common, highly contagious, and can be spread through skin-to-skin contact during sexual activity. Genital warts can cause discomfort, itching and pain, as well as embarrassment and emotional distress. Although most genital warts do not lead to serious health problems, they can increase a person's risk of contracting other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Treatment options depend on the size and location of the warts, and may include topical creams, laser therapy, cryotherapy, and surgery. It is important to get HPV vaccine and practice safe sex to reduce the risk of getting infected with genital warts.
