Staging of Colorectal Cancer
Colorectal cancer staging is the process of assigning a numerical value to a tumor to determine how far it has spread and how advanced it is. Staging helps doctors to determine the best treatment option for a patient, and it is important for doctors and patients to understand the stage of the cancer for the most effective care plan. Staging also helps to inform a patient's prognosis and long-term survivability. Generally, the lower the stage of colorectal cancer, the greater the chance of survival.
