Cell Polarity
Cell polarity refers to the uneven distribution of proteins and other molecules in the different regions of a cell, providing the cell with a specific set of characteristics and contributing to its different functions. This differential distribution of proteins and other molecules within a cell helps it to sense and respond to its environment and enables it to interact and communicate with other cells. Cell polarity is also essential for development and morphogenesis, as it helps determine the position and orientation of a cell within a tissue. Dysregulation of cell polarity can arise due to a number of different pathological processes, such as cancer, and understanding the molecular processes that regulate cell polarity is therefore key to improving our understanding of a variety of diseases.
