Cell Walls
Cell walls are critical parts of all eukaryotic cells and bacteria. They provide structural support and keep the cells' shape. They also act as a barrier to protect the cell from its environment and regulate the flow of materials in and out of the cell. In plants, the cell wall helps to retain water, enabling the cell to remain rigid while still allowing the cell to grow. In addition, cell walls are a source of nutrition for microbes and can act as a signaling pathway. Cell walls are essential for keeping the cell safe and healthy and allowing them to function properly.
