Flagellin

Flagellin is a protein component of the bacterial flagellum, which is a whip-like appendage found on many bacterial cells. Its structure and function make it a protein of great interest for understanding bacterial physiology and evolution. Flagellin is responsible for the generation of the rotational force that propels bacteria in their environment, aiding in the survival and dispersal of the cells. It is also the main component of many vaccines, as it stimulates a strong immune response and is used in the development of antibodies against bacterial infections. Flagellin is thus a significant tool for both medical research and the prevention of bacterial diseases.
