Microvilli

Microvilli are slender, finger-like projections found on the surface of cells in many tissues, including the gastrointestinal tract, inner ear, and kidneys. They increase the surface area of the cell membrane and help it to absorb or secrete substances. Microvilli also contain specialized enzymes and are involved in sensory perception in the inner ear and taste buds. The presence of microvilli on cells enables increased absorption and secretion, sensitivity to stimuli, and can aid in digestion.
