Subcellular Fractionation
Subcellular fractionation is a process used to separate and analyze the individual components of a cell. This technique enables researchers to study the biochemical, structural and functional properties of various cellular organelles, such as the nucleus, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, and cellular membranes. Subcellular fractionation is an essential tool for probing the complex mechanisms of life, from gene transcription to metabolic pathways. It can also be used to further understand the role of key proteins in various diseases, assist with drug development and identify target proteins for diagnostic tests.
