Cytolysis
Cytolysis is a process of cell destruction that occurs when a cell is exposed to a solution with an osmotic pressure that is higher than that of the interior of the cell. This results in the cell's destruction when the solution is absorbed by the cell, causing it to burst or lyse. Cytolysis has a variety of applications and is widely used in science and industry. In medical treatments such as chemotherapy, it can be used to kill cancer cells, while it is also used to separate cells and proteins in the production of biopharmaceuticals. In industrial applications, it can be used to process certain types of textile materials and to control the release of materials from microspheres. Cytolysis is also widely used in biochemistry, as it can be used to separate cellular components for further analysis.
