Submit a Manuscript
Three routes are approved for this journal. They reach the same editorial office and the same review process; they differ only in how the files get there.

The approved routes
Choose one. All three are equally valid, and a manuscript should travel by only one of them.
- Primary route
- ManuscriptZone — the publisher’s submission system, which tracks the manuscript through review.
- Alternative route
- Simple manuscript submission form — a short web form that arrives with Journal of Bioinformatics and Diabetes already selected.
- Assisted route
- [email protected] — send the manuscript to the editorial office and it will be entered for you.
Authors must use only one submission route for the same manuscript.
What to send
A submission that arrives complete is screened faster than one that has to be returned for missing parts.
- iThe manuscript file, with the title, abstract, keywords, main text, references and any tables.
- iiFigures, at a resolution that stays legible when printed, with their captions.
- iiiA title page carrying every author’s name, affiliation and the corresponding author’s address.
- ivDeclarations: funding, competing interests, ethical approval and consent where applicable, and a data-availability statement.
- vAny supplementary files, code or data the manuscript refers to.
- Requesting double-blind review
- For double-blind review, remove author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, funding details, institution names, and other identifying information from the reviewer manuscript. Provide identifying information separately in the title-page file or submission form.

Manuscript types
Name the type when you submit. These seven are open for unsolicited submission.
- Research Article
- A full report of original work: the question, what was done, what was found and what follows from it.
- Review Article
- A critical synthesis of published work on a defined question, saying where the evidence is strong and where it is thin.
- Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
- A review carried out to a stated protocol, reporting the search, the selection of studies and, where applicable, the quantitative synthesis.
- Methods Article
- A new or substantially improved method, algorithm, analysis pipeline or laboratory protocol, described so that another group can apply it.
- Data/Resource Article
- A dataset, database, software tool or other resource, described together with how it was produced and how it can be reused.
- Short Communication
- A concise report of a finding that stands on its own.
- Case Report
- A clinical case or short series, presented for what it shows.
Editorial and Perspective/Commentary are commissioned by the editors. They are not part of the routine unsolicited submission categories.
A bioinformatics or data-oriented manuscript does not need a diabetes component to be eligible, and a diabetes or metabolic manuscript does not need a new computational method. Each is assessed on its own terms within the journal’s remit.

Screening
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.
Review
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Decision
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
Charges
No charge arises on submission or during review. The article processing charge applies after acceptance and is described on the Article Processing Charges page.
