Guest editors shape the collection and handle its manuscripts. They are named on the collection and are accountable for the same standards as the journal’s own editors.

Proposals
Propose a Special Issue
Journal of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry welcomes proposals for focused collections that address important questions in child and adolescent psychiatry. Researchers with relevant expertise are invited to review the proposal requirements and contact the editorial office.

A question of current importance to the field, with enough active work behind it to fill a collection. - Contributors
A preliminary list of researchers able to contribute, across more than one group. - A proposal
A short statement of the theme, why it matters now, and how the collection would be organized. - Guest editors

How a collection works
Guest editing, review and publication
Independent review
Manuscripts in a special issue are reviewed under exactly the same policy as every other submission. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
Conflicts of interest
A guest editor who is an author on a manuscript in their own collection takes no part in its assessment; that manuscript is handled independently.
Publication
Accepted articles are published as they complete production and are gathered on the collection page, so a contribution is available as soon as it is ready.
Contributing
Sending work to a collection
Work intended for a collection is submitted through the journal’s ordinary routes, identifying the collection in the covering note.
Authors must use only one submission route for the same manuscript.
The approved routes are listed on the Submit Paper page. Regular submissions are accepted throughout the year, whether or not a collection is open.
