Membership Journal of Peptides
Membership is an optional way of supporting the journal’s open-access publishing. It stands entirely apart from the assessment of a manuscript.
The relationship
What membership is
Open access removes the cost of reading from the reader and places it elsewhere. Membership is one of the ways researchers and institutions choose to stand behind that arrangement for Journal of Peptides, alongside the article processing charge that applies to an accepted manuscript.
Membership is held by a person or an institution, and it stands apart from submission: authors publish here on the strength of the work, whether or not they hold one.
The boundary
Every manuscript is assessed the same way
Members and non-members are read on identical terms. All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal’s scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. Membership confers no advantage in the review or acceptance of a member’s own manuscripts: review order, reviewer selection, the depth of assessment and the outcome are settled by the science and by the editors handling it. The same holds for article processing charges, language editing, editorial appointment and reviewing, as set out in the Editorial Policies.
Current terms
Arranging membership
Membership categories, the annual contribution for each, and what each currently includes are confirmed by the editorial office, so that what a prospective member is told is the arrangement actually in force.
Researchers and institutions interested in membership are invited to write to [email protected], stating whether the enquiry is for an individual or an institution. The editorial office replies with the current categories and terms.
The article processing charge is a separate matter and applies to an accepted manuscript whether or not the author is a member; the current charge is published on the Article Processing Charges page.

Authors must use only one submission route for the same manuscript. Membership is not required in order to submit.
