Call for Papers
A standing invitation to submit work that advances precision agriculture, in any of the forms scholarship takes.
Submit your research to JPA. Journal of Precision Agriculture welcomes submissions throughout the year from researchers and multidisciplinary teams working across precision agriculture.
Questions the journal welcomes
These are the kinds of question the journal exists to answer. A manuscript does not need to answer all of them, and it does not need to be a field experiment.
- How can variation in a soil, a canopy, a herd or a season be measured reliably, and at what grain does the measurement become useful?
- When does an analytical method or a model hold outside the conditions it was built in, and how is that boundary established?
- What does a targeted intervention actually change, agronomically and economically, against uniform management?
- How accurately does machinery deliver what a prescription specifies, under working conditions rather than on a test bed?
- What determines whether a precision method is adopted, and what happens to it in practice once it is?
- Where do the governance, data and economic questions raised by these technologies need answering before the technology is useful?
Who the call is addressed to
Researchers in agronomy, soil and crop science; agricultural and biosystems engineers; remote sensing, geospatial and data specialists; advisers and extension specialists; and postgraduate researchers working on any of the above.
Regular submissions are accepted throughout the year, and a manuscript does not need to belong to a themed collection to be considered.
Forms of contribution
Routine article types: Research Article; Review Article; Systematic Review and Meta-analysis; Methods/Technology Article; Data/Resource Article; Short Communication; Application/Case Study.
Invitation-only formats: Editorial — invitation only; Perspective/Commentary — invitation only.
These contributions are considered when they advance precision agriculture.
Replication and negative or null results are assessed on the same footing as positive findings.
How submissions are handled
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. Decisions remain independent of fees, services, memberships, and editorial or reviewing roles.
