Hyperbaric Oxygen
therapy Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a medical treatment where a patient is exposed to oxygen at a higher than normal atmospheric pressure. During HBOT, an airtight chamber is filled with 100% oxygen, and the patient is exposed to this oxygen at a higher pressure than normal. This allows more oxygen to be dissolved into the bloodstream and tissues, increasing the amount of oxygen available to both. HBOT is used to help patients recover from a wide range of medical conditions. It can be beneficial in treating conditions related to blood circulation, such as strokes, as well as infections, wounds, and some types of cancer. Those suffering from chronic illnesses such as multiple sclerosis and diabetic ulcers may also reap the rewards of HBOT. It is also used to help reduce inflammation and improve performance in athletes and those interested in fitness.
