Superoxides

Superoxides are compounds formed when oxygen combines with another element, often a metal. They are important components of chemical reactions as they can act as oxidizers, reducing agents, and free radical initiators. Superoxides are used in a variety of industrial, chemical, and medical applications. These include the use of superoxides in fuel cells, explosives, and to sterilize water and food. Superoxides can also be used to form other chemicals, such as hydrogen peroxide, ozone, and other reactive oxygen species. The importance of superoxides to chemical and industrial processes, as well as to the medical field, make their research and development highly valuable.
