Fossil Fuels
Fossil fuels are energy sources formed from the remains of ancient plants and animals, primarily from millions of years ago. They are a major source of energy today and are used globally for the generation of electricity, heating, and transportation. Their significance lies in the vast amounts of energy they contain and the ease with which they can be extracted and burned. Examples of fossil fuels include oil, coal, and natural gas, all of which are non-renewable resources that are known to adversely impact the environment by releasing pollutants such as carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. Despite their environmental impacts, fossil fuels remain an important part of our global energy mix and are expected to continue to provide a significant portion of our energy needs in the near future.
