Gastrojejunostomy
Gastrojejunostomy is a type of surgery that connects the stomach to the small intestine (jejunum). It is typically performed to allow proper drainage of food and fluids to the small intestine in order to prevent digestive problems. Gastrojejunostomy is used to treat various conditions such as gastric outlet obstruction, benign or malignant tumors, blockage of the digestive tract due to scarring, or narrowing of the opening between the stomach and small intestine caused by inflammation in Crohn's disease. This procedure can be done either laparoscopically (with a small camera and instruments moving through tiny openings in the abdomen) or open (with a large incision). It is considered a safe and effective procedure, with a low risk of complications. Gastrojejunostomy can improve the quality of life for patients with these conditions, providing them with a better digestion of food and improved nutrition.
