The charge
What the charge is
Submission and peer review carry no charge. The article processing charge is raised only once a manuscript has been accepted for publication, and it is the same for every article type: USD 2,100.

Inclusions
What the charge covers
Production
Copyediting, typesetting, figure formatting and proofing to produce the published article.
Registration and metadata
DOI registration through Crossref and the bibliographic metadata that lets the article be cited and found.
Preservation and distribution
Digital preservation of the published record, and immediate open-access distribution under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license with authors retaining copyright.
Payment
How payment is arranged
Authors receive an invoice on acceptance. Payment is requested before the article enters production.
- Electronic payment, for authors paying directly
- Bank transfer, for institutional payments — arranged through the editorial office
- Institutional purchase orders, with the documentation the institution requires
- Split payment between authors, where a submission has several contributing institutions
Many funders and institutions meet publication costs from grant or library budgets. The editorial office can supply an itemized invoice in the format an institution or funder requires.
Review and the charge
Editorial independence
The charge supports publication after acceptance; editorial assessment follows the journal's published criteria, independently of payment.
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal’s scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
Editorial decisions are independent of fees, services, membership, and editorial or reviewer roles.
Withdrawal
If a manuscript is withdrawn
Authors should contact the editorial office promptly and wait for written confirmation before submitting the work elsewhere.
Manuscripts withdrawn within 3 days of submission are not subject to a withdrawal charge.
Manuscripts withdrawn more than 3 days after submission incur a withdrawal charge equal to 30% of the journal’s APC.
Authors must receive official withdrawal confirmation before submitting the manuscript to another journal.
