Leg Ulcers
Leg ulcers are a common medical condition which is often seen in older individuals and those with chronic illnesses. It is characterized by the formation of open sores on the lower extremities, usually on the legs or feet. These ulcers are often painful and cause a significant amount of discomfort. They can be slow to heal and, if left untreated, can lead to serious complications such as infection and tissue damage. Leg ulcers are usually caused by a lack of adequate blood supply to the legs, or due to chronic or increased pressure on the legs. Treatment typically involves dressing the ulcers, offloading pressure, and using compression bandages or stockings to promote healing. Leg ulcers can be difficult to manage, and recurrence is common. For this reason, it is important to seek medical attention if you suspect that you may have a leg ulcer.
