Postphlebitic Syndrome
Postphlebitic Syndrome (PPS) is a condition which can occur following the formation of a blood clot in a vein, known as deep vein thrombosis (DVT). It is characterized by chronic leg pain, swelling, skin changes, and other symptoms. PPS can cause significant discomfort and impair mobility, making it difficult to perform everyday activities. There is no cure for PPS however early diagnosis and treatment is essential for controlling symptoms and improving quality of life. Treatment typically involves leg elevation, compression stockings, and medications to reduce swelling and pain. Physical therapy may also be beneficial. Early diagnosis and lifestyle changes are key to effective management of PPS.
