Cytokine-mediated Cellular Responses
Cytokines are small secreted proteins that mediate communication between cells and are involved in regulating a variety of cellular functions. Cytokine-mediated cellular responses are processes driven by the binding of cytokines to cells, leading to a cascade of events which includes changes in gene expression and production of other cytokines. These cellular responses are hugely important in the development and maintenance of the immune system, as well as in inflammation responses and tissue regeneration. Furthermore, they are implicated in various diseases including cancer and autoimmune disorders. It is therefore important to gain a better understanding of the roles of cytokine-mediated cellular responses in order to develop new treatments for these diseases.
