Cytokines and Metabolic Disorders
Cytokines are small proteins that play an important role in cell communication. These proteins are released in response to certain stimuli and can affect the metabolism of cells and tissues in both positive and negative ways. Metabolic disorders are diseases that involve the body’s ability to regulate energy and nutrient use. Cytokines have been found to be involved in a variety of metabolic disorders, including obesity, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. The ability to study how cytokines affect metabolism has led to advances in diagnosing, treating, and preventing these disorders. Moreover, the understanding of how cytokines and metabolic disorders are linked is helping researchers to develop new treatments for these diseases, as well as potential preventative measures.
