Membership
Membership is an optional arrangement with the publisher that supports open-access publishing. It is a commercial relationship, and it is deliberately kept outside the editorial process.

What membership does not do
This is the first thing to say about it, because it is the thing a reader most needs to know.
It confers no advantage in review
Membership does not make peer review faster, more favorable or more likely to end in acceptance. A member’s manuscript is screened, reviewed and decided on exactly the same terms as any other.
Those terms are the journal’s published review model: Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
Decisions rest elsewhere
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
Editors are not told
Membership status is held by the publisher and is not part of the information an editor or reviewer receives with a manuscript.
It is optional
Authors who are not members submit, are reviewed and are published on the same basis. Nothing on this page is a condition of publishing in the journal.
What membership is
A membership is a subscription-style arrangement with the publisher rather than a scholarly status.
Open-access publishing is funded on the publishing side rather than the reading side. Membership is one of the arrangements the publisher offers for that, alongside per-article charges.
It is administered by the publisher’s office, which is also where its terms are held. Because those terms change independently of this journal, this page does not restate them: the editorial office confirms the current categories, what each includes and what it costs, on request.
What does not change is the boundary. Whatever a membership includes, it does not reach the editorial assessment of a manuscript.
