Membership is an optional arrangement with the publisher that supports open-access publishing. Manuscripts are assessed on the same criteria for members and non-members alike.

What membership is
The journal publishes open access, and membership is one of the ways the publisher supports that.
Membership is optional and supports the journal's open-access publishing. Peer review and editorial decisions follow the journal's published policies in every case.
A member's submission is screened, reviewed and decided on exactly the same terms as any other.
Current membership categories, terms and any associated fees are held by the editorial office. Researchers considering membership are invited to write to [email protected] for the terms that apply now.

How membership and assessment relate
Two separate responsibilities: the publisher's office administers membership, and the journal's editors assess manuscripts.
Assessment
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
Administration
Editorial decisions remain independent of fees, services, memberships, or roles.
Membership, charges and optional author services are handled by the publisher's office, and an editorial assessment rests on the manuscript and the reviewers' reports.
