Three routes lead to the same editorial office and the same assessment. Use one of them for a given manuscript.

The submission routes
Each route reaches the same editorial office. None of them affects how a manuscript is assessed or how quickly it is handled.

Authors must use only one submission route for the same manuscript.
The journal-specific submission form is preselected for Journal of Nervous System and Physiological Phenomena; check that the journal shown is correct before you send it.
Before you send it
A manuscript that arrives complete goes to screening immediately; one that does not comes back for the missing parts first.
Fit
The manuscript addresses nervous-system structure, function or a physiological phenomenon, within the boundary set out in Aims and Scope.
Type and structure
The article type is chosen and the manuscript follows the structure for it in the Instructions for Authors.
Declarations
Ethics approval, trial registration where applicable, the data-availability statement, funding, competing interests and author contributions are included.
Review preference
If double-blind review is wanted, the reviewer manuscript is anonymized and the identifying information is supplied separately.
Accepted article types
Original Research Article; Review Article; Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis; Case Report or Case Series; Brief Communication; Editorial or Commentary; Letter to the Editor.
After you send it
The sequence is the same for every route.
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.
Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. Editorial decisions remain independent of fees, services, memberships, or roles.
An article processing charge becomes payable only after acceptance, at the rate set for the article type; the full terms, including withdrawal, are on the Article Processing Charges page.
If you are not sure the manuscript fits
Write to [email protected] with the title and abstract before submitting, and the editorial office will give a view.
If you need institutional billing
Ask the editorial office before submission so the invoice can be prepared for the institution or funder.
