Chemical Properties of Oxygen
Oxygen (O2) is an essential element in the universe, vital to all known forms of life. It is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas at room temperature and has the highest electronegativity of all elements. Oxygen is the second most abundant element in the Earth's atmosphere, making up 21% of the air we breathe. It plays a major role in the chemical and biological systems of our planet and is involved in many key processes, such as the combustion of fossil fuels, the production of energy, the formation of oxides, and the production of water. It is also used in welding, metal working, medical treatments, and more. In short, oxygen is a key component of the Earth's environment and essential for life.
